Why are files saved in OS 9 not (or always) copied?

When copying files to a shared volume, please note that OS 9 and earlier report Daylight Savings Time dates as relative offsets. This means that a file created or modified during Daylight Savings Time will be reported (when not in Daylight Savings Time) as a different time than it is reported by OS X. There is no workaround other than making sure that if you create or modify a file on an OS 9 or earlier machine, make sure that you never allow the System to use its relative DST setting. Set the clock back manually.
